HIPS has relatively limited heat resistance, with a heat deflection temperature of approximately 78°C and a Vicat softening point of around 87°C; it is generally suitable for food-contact applications at ambient or low temperatures. It is not recommended for microwave heating or for holding freshly cooked hot food or boiling water. Prolonged contact with substances containing oils, strong acids, or strong alkalis may lead to deformation or increased monomer migration. It is advisable to clearly specify the applicable temperature range in the product documentation.
